Former Arsenal captain Patrick Vieira has been named head coach of the Senegal national team, a first at international level for the 50‑year‑old. He replaces Pape Bouna Thiaw after Senegal’s World Cup exit.

Patrick Vieira, 50, former Arsenal captain and France international, has been appointed head coach of the Senegal national team, according to the Senegal Football Federation.
