Liverpool Star Curtis Jones Open to Leaving for Inter
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Liverpool’s Curtis Jones is keen to move to Inter Milan this summer. Jones, who has been a key figure in Liverpool’s midfield, reportedly wants to play in Serie A and is open to negotiations. The deal would depend on the player’s valuation and the timing of the transfer, as the player’s contract expires next year.
Marcus Rashford: Arsenal plot to exploit Barcelona’s rift with Man United
Manchester United’s refusal to entertain Barcelona’s attempts to strike a cut-price deal for Marcus Rashford may allow Arsenal to storm into the race, according to a new report. tbzikra.org
Barca refuse to pay up
Rashford joined LaLiga’s champions on a season-long loan last summer after being ostracised by then-head coach Ruben Amorim. A £26 million buy option was included in the deal, which can be triggered at any point up until June 15.
And despite Amorim himself being booted out of Old Trafford by INEOS in January, there is no desire amongst the club’s hierarchy for the 28-year-old forward to return. This is understood to be matched by Rashford, who is keen to remain at Camp Nou after establishing himself as an important rotational piece in Hansi Flick’s squad.
However, Barcelona are trying to renegotiate the pre-existing agreement to direct their limited finances elsewhere on the pitch. There is a growing sense amongst the Blaugrana fanbase that a better winger could also be found in Spain.
Talks have been held over another loan as well as a reduction in fee, with some reports suggesting Rashford himself could be prepared to take a hit on his salary to help facilitate the move.
But United have no interest in compromising and are instead prepared to stomach a temporary reunion to sell the player elsewhere. This prospect has put one of the club’s biggest rivals on red alert over a summer swoop.
Arsenal plot blockbuster raid
The Daily Mail reveals Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the situation in case Rashford suddenly becomes available upon a return to England. Despite an impressive season both domestically and in Europe, Mikel Arteta’s side have struggled at times going forward, instead relying on an imperious defence.
Neither of the existing options on the left – Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli – has impressed enough to lock down the starting berth, while Eberechi Eze does his best work more centrally. A cut-price move for an out-of-favour, but still very productive, winger from one of their rivals makes sense, therefore, if it helps fund reinforcements elsewhere, particularly as Rashford would count as a homegrown player.
Interestingly, the same report states Bayern Munich are also monitoring the England international’s situation as the Bundesliga giant looks to reinforce their already rampant frontline.
Final Thoughts
A £26m outlay for a versatile attacker with a track record of goals and a wealth of experience at the highest levels of club and international football is a reasonable one by any team’s standards.
However, Rashford’s wage packet – worth in excess of £300,000 a week – makes this a much more difficult signing to account for overall. Neither Arsenal nor Bayern would be willing to offer anywhere close to this figure.
Furthermore, Rashford’s heart is set on remaining in Catalonia, a move he has previously described as fulfilling a childhood dream. A more likely outcome than a switch to another European heavyweight is United being forced to acquiesce to Barca’s demands as they hold the upper hand in negotiations and the player getting his wish.

Game over for four Liverpool stars: Paul Joyce says they could leave
Liverpool are heading for big changes.
It’s been a tough season for Arne Slot and his Premier League champions. The Reds won the title at a canter last year but have been unable to recapture their form this time around.
Following on from a £450m spending spree it was predicted that the Anfield club would improve further and go some way towards reclaiming their top-flight crown.
But it hasn’t worked out like that with big-money signings like Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz flattering to deceive. A major overhaul is necessary in the off-season - with Arne Slot set to stay put as head coach.
Key to getting an improvement in Liverpool’s fortunes will be the upcoming shakeup of the playing squad.
Top talents like Yan Diomande and Sam Beukema are reportedly being targetted with the departures of Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson already confirmed.
Paul Joyce says future of four is uncertain
And to the outbound group could be added as many as FOUR more key players as Slot and Richard Hughes ring in the changes.
That’s according to to trusted reporter Paul Joyce in the Times who suggests that a few current stars are hanging by a shaky nail.
“The futures of a number of players — Alisson, Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister and Ibrahima Konaté to name a few — remain uncertain before the need to strengthen a squad that has been found wanting is taken into consideration,” the report reads.
Alisson Becker, 33, is wanted by Juventus and has been reported to be intrigued about the prospect of a move back to Italy one year before his contract ends.
Jones, meanwhile, is also out of contract in 2027 and if no new deal is agreed then the sporting director could opt to cash in this summer.
