Jackson: Loop's Legacy Begins in Rio
After making the game-winning 56-yard field goal in the NFL's first visit to Rio's Maracaña stadium, Tyler Loop received words of encouragement from quarterback Lamar Jackson. 'I was saying on the sideline, 'Your legacy starting now,' because I feel like he has been facing adversity,' Jackson said. The kick capped off a dramatic finish where the Cowboys tied the score at 31 with seven seconds left before Loop's successful attempt secured the victory for Baltimore. mwafrika.life
Odell Beckham played 6 snaps, had 1 target and 0 catches
Giants head coach John Harbaugh said he wanted to get wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. more involved in the offense on Sunday. And Beckham was more involved. Barely.
Beckham was on the field for six snaps and had one pass thrown his way, which he didn't catch. But even that was more than he did a week earlier, when Beckham played three snaps and never got a target.
The 33-year-old Beckham hasn't caught a pass in an NFL game since December 8, 2024, when he played for the Dolphins and had one catch for one yard in an overtime win over the Jets. The last time Beckham scored a touchdown was in 2023, when he played for the Ravens.
At some point, the Giants either need to make a concerted effort to get Beckham involved in the offense, or release him. There's no reason for a 33-year-old wide receiver who doesn't play special teams to take up a roster spot.
If the Giants did release Beckham, it's unlikely any other team would pick him up. At this point, Beckham appears to be just about done.
Sean Payton: We have to find a way to play better earlier
The Broncos were down 16-0 against the Rams at halftime on Sunday night, but they put up 30 points in the final 30 minutes to close out the game with their second straight win.
The first of those wins played out in similar fashion. The Jaguars led the Broncos 13-3 in Week 2, but Denver rallied to score the final 17 points of the game and the two wins now give them 10 fourth quarter comeback wins since Bo Nix became the team's starting quarterback.
After the game, Payton said he likes that Nix is at his best in those moments but he believes that the Broncos "have to find a way to play better earlier" because continually falling behind is a recipe for disaster in the long term.
"I'm pleased with how we responded," Payton said. "We can't, like — it’ll cost us in bigger games against teams that are playing better later in the season. It will be something we're frustrated about later if we can't clean it up."
Next week's trip to visit the 3-0 49ers would be a good time for the Broncos to show they can hit the ground running rather than giving the opposition a sizable head start.
