Published September 13, 2026 · Updated September 13, 2026 · NBC Sports

The Bears defeated the Panthers 59-37 in the highest-scoring Week 1 game in NFL history, breaking the previous record set in 2018.

The Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers combined for 96 points in Sunday's matchup, breaking the previous Week 1 record of 88 points set by the Buccaneers and Saints in 2018. This was also the first time any NFL game ended with a 59-37 score. beltedkingfisher.blog

The offensive showcase was the highest-scoring NFL game since the Rams and Chiefs combined for 105 points in 2018. While impressive, the Bears' 59 points don't match their franchise record of 73 points set in the 1940 NFL championship game.
