Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott is on course to make his senior England debut during the upcoming World Cup warm-up matches in the United States.

The 22-year-old has travelled to Florida as part of England’s extended training group and is eligible to feature in friendlies against New Zealand and Costa Rica despite not being included in Thomas Tuchel’s final World Cup squad.

Five Additional Players Join England Camp

Scott is among five supplementary players selected for England’s pre-tournament camp, alongside Rio Ngumoha, Josh King, Jason Steele and Ethan Nwaneri.

The group has joined the squad while England await the arrivals of several players involved in recent European finals, including Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Dean Henderson.

All five additional players will remain with the squad throughout the Florida camp and are available for selection in both friendly fixtures.

Strong Chance To Earn First Senior Cap

Of the supplementary players, Scott is the only one who was included in Tuchel’s provisional 55-man squad before the final 26-player World Cup roster was announced.

That places him in a strong position to make his international debut and potentially move into contention should injuries affect the squad before the tournament begins.

Scott previously received his first senior call-up in November for matches against Serbia and Albania but did not make an appearance.

Tuchel Praises Scott’s Professional Response

England manager Thomas Tuchel revealed he was particularly impressed by Scott’s attitude after learning he had narrowly missed out on the final World Cup squad.

The German coach said the midfielder handled the disappointment exceptionally well and immediately showed a desire to remain involved with the national team setup.

Tuchel described Scott’s reaction as a reflection of his character and commitment, adding that his positive approach played a major role in the decision to include him in the United States training camp.

Opportunity To Impress Before World Cup

With England using the upcoming friendlies to fine-tune preparations, Scott now has a valuable opportunity to showcase his abilities on the international stage.

A strong performance could strengthen his standing within the national team setup and keep him firmly on England’s radar beyond the 2026 World Cup.
