Sahara occidental: Staffan de Mistura en visite dans les camps de réfugiés saharaouis
L'envoyé personnel du secrétaire général de l'Organisation des Nations unies pour le Sahara occidental, l'italo-suédois Staffan de Mistura a entamé dimanche une visite de deux jours dans les camps de réfugiés sahraouis, notamment du côté de Tindouf, en Algérie, dans le cadre de sa tournée dans la région. L'objectif est d'échanger directement avec le Front Polisario alors que le processus de négociations concernant le Sahara occidental, entamé par Washington depuis le début de l'année 2026, est actuellement au point mort.

ALG : La FIFA met en demeure la JS Kabylie
La direction de la JS Kabylie a annoncé avoir reçu une notification de la Fédération internationale de football (FIFA) concernant le règlement d’une partie des indemnités de formation liées à deux anciens joueurs du club, Yuliwas Bellache et Antonio Lachheb. Dans un communiqué officiel, les responsables kabyles ont indiqué que le dossier est actuellement en cours de traitement et que les montants concernés seront régularisés dans les prochains jours, conformément aux procédures en vigueur auprès de l’instance mondiale du football.
Soucieuse de rassurer ses supporters, la direction a précisé que cette situation n’aura aucune incidence sur le fonctionnement du club ni sur la préparation de l’équipe en vue de la saison 2026-2027. Les dirigeants ont également affirmé que toutes les démarches nécessaires ont été engagées afin de clôturer ce dossier dans les meilleurs délais. La JSK a enfin réitéré son engagement en faveur de la transparence, assurant qu’elle continuera à informer régulièrement ses supporters des différents développements liés à la gestion administrative et sportive du club. Un message destiné à apaiser les inquiétudes et à confirmer la stabilité du club à l’approche du prochain exercice.

FIFA World Cup 2026: Journalists raise concerns over US visa restrictions as AIPS calls on FIFA to intervene
With only a few days to go until the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicks off, AIPS finds it unacceptable that many colleagues, who have been duly accredited by FIFA to cover the tournament, are facing varying degrees of US visa challenges.
AIPS is calling on FIFA to intervene and ensure that the affected media representatives are not wrongfully denied entry into the USA.
On Friday, 5 June, the AIPS President, Gianni Merlo, on behalf of the AIPS Executive Committee, sent the letter below to Bryan Swanson, the FIFA Director of Media Relations, and Jochen Steinhoff, the FIFA Head of Media Operations & Services.

In this difficult time for the entire world, on the eve of the futuristic 2026 FIFA World Cup, we find ourselves facing a long-standing and unacceptable problem for us journalists: the denial of entry visas to regularly accredited colleagues.
There are many cases: Iranian colleagues, African colleagues, some of whom have been given single entries, so if their team goes to play in Canada or Mexico and they follow it, they can no longer return to the States. The cases are countless and, I repeat, unacceptable. Politicians always say that sport unites and builds bridges between young people in countries in conflict, but in this case, we are going in the opposite direction.
We believe it is important to allow colleagues to attend the event and work, because their presence will be crucial to the image of sport and what it represents, especially in a country like the United States of America, where freedom of the press is a must.
I hope FIFA can do everything possible to secure visas. We are already significantly behind schedule, and many colleagues have already lost the opportunity to use plane tickets booked on time; they will also face significant additional expenses.

Beaver: Tony coup the ultimate ‘power play’
Former All Blacks flyhalf Stephen Donald believes NZ Rugby may have had more than one reason for announcing Tony Brown’s future return to the All Blacks set-up.
Brown, currently the Springboks’ attack coach, has signed a two-year contract with NZ Rugby and will join the All Blacks after the 2027 World Cup in Australia.
The former All Blacks flyhalf has spent the past two years helping shape the evolution of the Springboks’ attack under Rassie Erasmus and is contracted to SA Rugby until the end of the 2027 World Cup.
While the appointment has been widely viewed as a major coup for NZ Rugby, Donald suspects there may be more to the timing of the announcement, ahead of the 2026 international season.
Speaking on The Aftermatch podcast, the 2011 World Cup-winning flyhalf suggested the move could even be a subtle psychological play ahead of this year’s Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry series between the Springboks and All Blacks.

“He’s probably the most desired assistant coach in all of rugby and they’ve got their man,” said Donald.
“I initially thought, ‘Crazy timing – why are we announcing this?’ But then I thought about it. Is it actually a power play from New Zealand Rugby to get into the heads of their greatest rival? Just to have it in their minds that he’s coming to us in 18 months’ time.”
Donald then took the theory a step further.
“Maybe it’s the ultimate mind game back at Rassie,” he said. “Seeing their man in a Springbok tracksuit, saying he’ll be in an All Blacks tracksuit in 18 months’ time.”
