PSG Secure First Ligue 1 Win

Despite finally securing their first Ligue 1 victory of the season, PSG's performance against Brest was far from convincing. The champions appeared lucky to earn three points as most players seemed disinterested, with only Ferran Torres showing the required intensity.

Torres provided a moment of brilliance in the fourth minute, combining with João Neves and Ousmane Dembélé to score a stunning 25-yard goal. However, such moments were rare as PSG struggled to maintain their dominance throughout the match.

Jaelan Phillips: Giving up 59 points is embarrassing, creates critical moment for Panthers

The good news for the Panthers was that they put 37 points on the board in their first game of the 2026 season. playerbros.org

Sunday's bad news was that still left them 22 points behind their opposition. The Bears offense tore the Panthers defense apart in a 59-37 win that went down as the highest-scoring Week 1 game in the history of the NFL.

After the game, linebacker Jaelan Phillips was asked if he found himself looking at the scoreboard trying to make sense of what he saw.

"Many times, yeah, especially towards the end," Phillips said, via the team's website. "I mean, 59 is an ugly, ugly score to put up as a defense, so it's embarrassing. But at the end of the day, you know, I do think that it's a good opportunity for us. It's a critical moment in the sense that, you know, getting beat this badly as a defense is really going to define us moving forward in terms of the urgency that we have to make corrections and to get better, so you know it's all good, man."

The Panthers gave up the most points in league history during the 2024 season, but stuck with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero and improved last year. Bringing in Phillips and linebacker Devin Lloyd was designed to continue that improvement.

Sunday was a major step back and head coach Dave Canales said in his press conference that the team needs to "find solutions for what's going on" because more of the same is going to make for a long, ugly season for Carolina.

Jaxson Dart: Identity starts at the top and we bought into John Harbaugh's plan

The Giants capped the first Sunday of the 2026 season with their first win under head coach John Harbaugh.

Dallas was the favorite at MetLife Stadium, but the Giants drove for a touchdown the first time they had the ball and never trailed on their way to a 28-20 win that featured plenty to like in every phase of the game. Quarterback Jaxson Dart threw three touchdowns and ran for 54 yards while showing full command of the offense to kick off his second season, and said after the game that the effort was a result of putting everything Harbaugh has been preaching into action.

"I just think that we have so much respect for coach Harbs, and this team will do whatever he says because we have all the faith that he's going to put us in the best situation to win," Dart said. "The identity of a team starts at the top and it starts with how he's conducted himself, with how he's created a tough team. We want to take that on our shoulders and we bought in to what his plan is week in and week out. We're definitely happy to get it for him. We were just really happy to get it — not only for the players but for the organization."

It's the first time the Giants opened a season with a win since 2022, which was the last time that they ended a season with a trip to the playoffs. Sunday night's performance will have some around the team thinking about a similar destination and it will be on Harbaugh to make sure that no one gets too far ahead of themselves after a stirring debut.
